Control of nuclear division in normal but not in neoplastic mouse cells.

چکیده
A control mechanism that limits nuclear division is pres ent in contact-inhibited nontumorigenic mouse BALB/3T3 cells and mouse embryo fibroblasts. In the absence ofcytoplasmic division, 3T3 and mouse embryo fibroblast cells may undergo nuclear division once or occasionally twice and then stop. Also, there is no increase in the frequency of premature chromosome condensation. In non-contactinhibited tumorigenic BALB/3T12 and L-cells, nuclear division occurs repeatedly in the absence of cytoplasmic division and is therefore relatively uncontrolled. The fre quency of premature chromosome condensation is mark edly increased in 3T12 and L-cells unable to undergo cyto plasmic division. These observations are consistent with the hypothesis that the loss of control of nuclear division in neoplastic cells represents a characteristic defect.

متن کاملSelective Destruction of Cultured Tumor Cells with Uncontrolled Nuclear Division by Cytochalasin B and Cytosine Arabinoside 1
Cultures of normal human and hamster and malignant human and hamster cells respond to cytochalasin B (CB) differently. The neoplastic cells become highly multinucleated with continuous nuclear division, while cytoplasmic division is prevented. These cells exhibit uncontrolled nuclear division. The normal cells show control of nuclear division, since CB treatment results in only binucleation, al...

متن کاملO-15: Reduced Fertilization After ICSI and Abnormal Phospholipase C Zeta Presence in Spermatozoa from the Wobbler Mouse
Background: Failed fertilization after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) can be due to a reduced oocyte-activation capacity caused by reduced concentrations and abnormal localization of the oocyte-activation factor phospholipase C (PLC) zeta. Patients with this condition can be helped to conceive by artificial activation of oocytes after ICSI with calcium ionophore (assisted oocyte activa...
متن کاملP-29: Effects of Cumulus Cells on Survival, In vitro Maturation,Fertilization and Subsequent Developmental Capacity of Mouse Germinal Vesicle Stage Oocytes during Vitrification
Background: Cryopreservation of oocytes, which is an interesting procedure to conserve female gametes, is an essential part of reproductive biotechnology. The objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of cumulus cells on survival,in vitro maturation, fertilization and subsequent developmental capacity of mouse germinal vesicle stage oocytes during vitrification. Materials and...
